Copper Corrosion

This is the beginning of the process of creating my senior collection based off of Patina. Copper Corrosion is a Women's Evening Wear Collection. The garments are presented in the order of how copper oxides. It starts off in the shiny copper color variations to dark teals and light blues.

Sketchbook Pages

These a a few pages of my sketchbook. When creating them I looked at initial research and concepts based on Patina. I explored the color palette and pulled reference photos. One of the most well known models of patina is the statue of liberty. I found similarities with how a chameleon can change colors due to the chemical in them like how different elements effect Patina. There is many different types of patina for different metals. I choose to focus on copper patina. My favorite thing from the first set of pages is my iteration using plastic fasteners painting and layering them to mock the photo that it is next to. The second set of pages shines light on the formation of copper and the chemicals that make the blue teal coloring. What I enjoyed most from the second set of pages is the rendition I did with the pennies and surface design I explored with copper piette.

Concept Board

I wanted to embody movement and depth. In the board I wanted to play using the copper and teal tones as there are two different side of patina. That it is a shared and complex idea within itself as patina.

Appliqué

To the left  I am working on Look #2 placing and sewing copper circle piette to the charmeuse palazzo pants. This was to test out the spacing and how I wanted to place them.

To the right is the process of making floral appliqué for a cocktail jade teal dress which is Look #5.
